In the second half, the Spanish international ‘killed the game’ and traced the destiny of the Super Cup in the 68th minute, in the perfect execution of a penalty, by hand on the ball in the area by the Moroccan international Noussair Mazraoui.
The Portuguese under-21 international Fábio Carvalho, formerly of Liverpool, was launched onto the pitch in the 78th minute, replacing the ‘hero’ of the match, Dani Olmo.
Leipzig won its first German Supercup, a trophy which Bayern holds the record for, having won it 10 times, followed by Borussia Dortmund, with six trophies, Werder Bremen, with three, and Kaiserlautern, Schalke 04, Stuttgart and Wolfsburg all have one.
