After comments from Portugal National team coach Paulo Bento regarding his exclusion of Bosingwa, the wing-back has hit back with comments of his own. Bosingwa has announced that he will never play again for the Portuguese National team while it is under the stewardship of Bento, much like Ricardo Carvalho stated recently. Bosingwa has enjoyed a wonderful season for Chelsea so far, so it came as quite a surprise when Bento failed to name him in the squad against Bosnia. Even when right-back Silvio was withdrawn due to injury, Bento called up Eliseu over Bosingwa, a move that must have prompted Bosingwa to make this statement.
“I cannot understand what the Portugal’s manager meant with emotional and mental questions in relation to me, because I believe it is difficult for a player who reached the level that I have achieved being weak in those points which he has mentioned,” said the player. “It is from the public’s knowledge that he is a conflictual manager with his players. As much as it costs me, for as long as he is the coach of the Portugal national team I will not wear the Portuguese outfit. I have said and I repeat: he is a distressed manager who, in my opinion, does not have the emotional and mental capacity to lead a group of men.”
