Mariano Lopez, president of Académico de Viseu, presented this Thursday at the Thinking Football Summit 2023, in Porto, the digital transformation project implemented at the club, which this week opened an online store.
“We launched the first phase of the Academico’s digital transformation within a year. We started with the essential tool, the website, a decisive platform for connecting with supporters, through which we share the necessary information, also including a “membership” mechanism, precisely so that we can have information and knowledge of our community; we then activated the sale of tickets online – it doesn’t make sense, today, the only solution to access a game is to be in a queue to buy a ticket; and just two days ago we activated the online store, which will also be decisive for our relationship with the fans”, began by saying Mariano Lopez.
“We created a rodmap and found the necessary partners to implement it, because we also need to focus on the rest, on the essentials, which is talent development and sporting activity. Technology is a crucial tool for any club, but it cannot be the exclusive concern. These are tools that we must activate, because they support our entire core operation”, he concluded.
The case of Académico de Viseu was presented as an example that, in one year, “went from a club with one of the worst attendance averages in the stadium, to the second best average in Liga Portugal SABSEG”.
