CD Feirense 1918 was recently created, but the name is practically the same as that of the century-old Clube Desportivo Feirense and even the symbol is completely identical. Fans are unaware of the legality of the new Association and even SAD has already questioned the club’s management whether it agrees with the “new” Feirense and whether it authorized its creation.
JOGO tried to understand the contours of CD Feirense 1918, which proposes to have a senior football team competing in the II district division of AF Aveiro, but Rodrigo Nunes, president of the club, did not want to comment on the matter.
CD Feirense 1918 already has a coach – the club’s former player, Carlos Santos – and practically all the players went through the fogaceiros training. The Portuguese Football Federation will also have an important say in authorizing two clubs with practically the same name and symbol.
