With the cancellation of the second friendly against the Moroccan Olympic Team, athletes from the Brazilian Pre-Olympic Team began to return to Brazil this Monday (11). Among them, midfielder Maurício, who will be available to Internacional for the game against São Paulo, on Wednesday (13), at 9:30 pm, in Beira-Rio, for the 23rd round of the Brazilian Championship.
Maurício will participate in the last Colorado training session before the clash. The activity will take place this Tuesday afternoon (12), at CT Parque Gigante, in Porto Alegre.
Ownership is not guaranteed
Still, Maurício is not guaranteed a starting spot against São Paulo. In Inter’s last game, in the 0-0 draw with Goiás, in Goiânia, the young midfielder was on the bench, coming on at half-time in De Pena’s place.
This time, what could count against it is the fact that the selected player, unlike the Uruguayan, did not participate in the training period at CT Colorado during the FIFA Date. On the other hand, it would sound like “punishment” for the merit of being called up.
Earthquake led to the cancellation of the friendly
Maurício came on to replace Igor Paixão in the 50th minute of the second half in the Pre-Olympic Team’s 1-0 defeat to Morocco, last Thursday (7). A new friendly would take place this Monday (11). However, the match was canceled by the Moroccan Federation due to the earthquake that hit the country on Friday (8), leaving a lot of damage.
According to the country’s Ministry of Interior, more than 2,100 people died as a result of the magnitude 6.8 earthquake. The city of Marrakech and its surroundings were the most affected. King Mohammed VI declared three days of official mourning.
Staying in Fez, the venue for the friendlies, the Brazilian Pre-Olympic Team delegation also felt the tremors. As a precaution, everyone left their rooms and went to an open area, close to the hotel pool. No one is hurt.
