Reinforcement João Moutinho is part of Braga’s list for the Champions League.

Portuguese international João Moutinho is part of Braga’s list for the group stage of the Champions League, UEFA announced this Tuesday.

The experienced 37-year-old midfielder, Portugal’s second most capped player (only surpassed by Cristiano Ronaldo), is the big news on the Minho team’s A list, replacing the young Senegalese Djibril Soumaré, who is left out.

João Moutinho returns to the biggest European club competition, in which he played his last game at Estádio do Dragão, in December 2017, for Monaco, in a 5-2 defeat against FC Porto.

In addition to the 25 players on the main list, which includes four athletes in order to meet the quota of players trained at the club (Tiago Sá, Miguel Vilela, Álvaro Djaló and Luís Asué), Braga signed up another nine players for list B, reserved for footballers born from January 1, 2002 onwards, with emphasis on Roger, a player usually called up by the Arsenal coach, Artur Jorge.

Braga, which is participating for the third time in its history in the group stage of the Champions League, will host Napoli, last season’s Italian champion, in the first round of group C, on September 20, at 8pm.

List A of players registered for Braga in the Champions League:
