Athletic Bilbao awarded João Pinto, a figure of FC Porto, with the “One Club Man” award, given by the Basque club to footballers who represented only one club in their entire career.
The 61-year-old former right-back collects the 2023 award, joining Matthew Le Tissier (Southampton), Paolo Maldini (Milan), Sepp Maier (Bayern Munich), Carles Puyol (Barcelona), Billy McNeill (Celtic ), Ryan Giggs (Manchester United) and Ricardo Enrique Bochini (Independiente).
João Pinto spent 16 seasons with the blue and whites, playing 587 games. He won nine championships, four Portuguese Cups, eight Super Cups, one European Champions Cup, one Intercontinental Cup and one European Super Cup. He was capped 70 times for Portugal.
