Flamengo already has a confirmed absence for the game against Goiás, valid for the 24th round of the Brazilian Championship. Sampaoli will not be able to count on Wesley, the player most used by the coach throughout his time at the club. The full-back is suspended for his third yellow card.

Wesley arrived at the game against Athletico, played this Wednesday (13), as one of Flamengo’s three hanging games. Léo Pereira was also on the field, but was not warned by referee Rafael Rodrigo Klein. The other was Filipe Luís, who was left out of the trip due to a muscle injury.

It is worth remembering that Rubro-Negro had two other casualties due to suspension in this Wednesday’s match, in Cariacica. Bruno Henrique and Ayrton Lucas had received a third yellow card in the classic against Botafogo and served the punishment automatically. These will be available to Sampaoli in the next match, against Goiás, on Wednesday (20), in Serrinha.

Gabigol becomes new casualty after expulsion

As if Flamengo’s situation couldn’t get worse, Gabigol was also absent in the next round. The attacker ended up being sent off for attacking Athletico midfielder Cuello, after a VAR review.

Before that, however, Flamengo will take the field in the final of the Copa do Brasil, this Sunday (17), against São Paulo. The game is scheduled for 4pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã.
