Pablo Villar guarantees that Vizela is prepared to make history against Benfica.
Vizela’s coach admitted this Friday that the team is prepared to make history against Benfica, in a match on the fifth round of the I League.
Vizela has never won against one of the big three and Pablo Villar wants to break this cycle and repeat the victory achieved in the previous round, against Gil Vicente.
“The squad has the same motivation as always, knowing that we can make history in these games, because Vizela has never managed a victory against a big team and tomorrow (Saturday) we have the opportunity to do so”, assured the coach, in a conference press preview of the match with Benfica.
Regarding the opponent, the Spanish coach is expecting difficulties, even so, he assured that there are no fears, admitting that the Vizelense team is prepared to “beat Benfica”.
“We expect a strong Benfica team that has three consecutive victories, is close to last season’s level, but we don’t want to lose points. We are ready and motivated, the work went very well, the team showed a good performance and is ready to beat Benfica “, he further stressed.
When asked whether playing against the current national champion could bring some extra motivation, Pablo Villar highlighted the importance of playing at home.
“It’s extra motivation because we have a great opportunity to make history. This is the best group I’ve had in the way they dedicate themselves to training. We have to be strong at home and we can’t waste points”, he highlighted.
Vizela’s coach also considered that the break in the championship was important to prepare the best way for this meeting and to fit the reinforcements into the reality of the team’s process.
“The break was positive for adapting the new players to the group and our systems. We took advantage of the break to prepare the game against Benfica in the best way and try to successfully stop the opponent. But we didn’t prepare for this game any differently than other opponents” , he also assured.
Vizela, in 12th place, with four points, receives this Sunday, at 8:30 pm, Benfica, in fourth place, with nine, in a game on the fifth round of the I League, which will be refereed by Luís Godinho, from the association of Évora.
