On Thursday night (14) Timão went to Fortaleza to face the home team, in the 23rd round of the Brasileirão. In a balanced match, Corinthians conceded a goal at the end of the game and were beaten by their opponents, 2-1.

The black and white goal was scored by Pedro, who scored his first professional goal. With the defeat, Corinthians remained with 26 points in the table and 14th in the standings.

Lineup
Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo selected Timão with the following formation: Cássio; Leo Mana, Bruno Méndez, Gil, Caetano and Matheus Bidu; Gabriel Moscardo, Giuliano and Ruan Oliveira; Pedro and Yuri Alberto. The following entered during the game: Wesley, Matheus Araújo, Cantillo, Gustavo Silva and Romero. Carlos Miguel, Matheus Donelli, Lucas Veríssimo, Biro and Felipe Augusto were also available on the bench.

First time
The match started with the home team going all out. Marinho crossed and Lucero headed wide in the first minute of the game.

Timão, in the first minutes, valued possession of the ball a little more, but were unable to set up a move in attack, so they looked for spaces in the midfield.

After the first ten minutes, Fortaleza started to play more and got closer to the Corinthian area. As a result, Alvinegro stayed further back, exchanging passes only in the defense field.

In the 14th minute, Timão went on the attack for the first time: Ruan Oliveira took a risk from outside the area, but the ball hit Giuliano and arrived weakly for the opposing goalkeeper to defend.

In the 25th minute, Corinthians went wrong with Ruan Oliveira. Marinho recovered for Fortaleza, quickly passed it to Lucero, who shot: the ball deflected off Gil before entering the goal, Fortaleza 1-0.

The People’s Team started to frequent the attacking field a little more, but did not make offensive plays.

Corinthians goal! From a corner kick by Caetano, in the 32nd minute, the ball fell to Gabriel Moscardo who shot the ball towards the goal, the goalkeeper saved it and on the rebound, Pedro, alone, headed the ball into the back of the net, scoring his first goal as a Timão professional: 1 to 1.

In the 34th minute, Fortaleza almost increased the score. Caio Alexandre made the pass to Marinho in the middle of the field, the opposing team’s striker dominated and shot the ball into the goal, beating Cássio. The VAR was called to review Marinho’s dominance, with a possible touch of the arm by the Fortaleza striker, which was confirmed and the goal was disallowed.

In the 43rd minute, Timão had a scare: Pochetino received it and shot with great force at the goal, the ball exploded against the crossbar and the black and white defense recovered.

The referee gave six minutes of extra time and after extra time the first stage was ended.

Second time
Corinthians returned to the second stage with one change: Leo Mana left and Wesley entered.

Two minutes into the second half, Fortaleza went on the attack, in a cross looking for Pochetino, Cássio anticipated it and removed the danger from the black and white area.

Timão also attacked, in the fourth minute: Matheus Bidu crossed, but Yuri Alberto was unable to finish with strength.

Corinthians changed twice more, in the eighth minute: Ruan Oliveira and Gabriel Moscardo left and Matheus Araújo and Cantillo came on.

At 10 minutes, Timão launched a quick counterattack with Yuri Alberto. Shirt 9 played for Wesley, who received it alone. When he tried to dominate before the kick, he was disarmed.

The match became more balanced in the second half. With the changes, Timão, who already had more possession of the ball, started to come out with more quality, seeking to attack the opponent.

Coach Vanderlei Luxemburgo changed the team once again, in the 26th minute: Pedro left and Gustavo Silva entered.

In the 28th minute, Marinho was brought down in the area and the referee awarded a penalty. The charge was made by Marinho himself and he kicked it out! The match remained tied.

Timão made its last change in the game, in the 35th minute: Romero came on to replace Yuri Alberto.

In the 36th minute, Caio Alexandre shot from outside the area and Cássio made the save.

Fortaleza was in danger once again in the 43rd minute: Britez headed wide.

The referee even awarded a penalty in favor of Timão, but, at the beginning of the play, Matheus Araújo was in an offside position and the penalty was cancelled.

The referee gave nine minutes of extra time.

In the 48th minute, Fortaleza increased the score. Yago Pikachu received it, cleared the mark and kicked. Cássio was unable to defend and the ball went into the back of the net, 2-1.

From a corner kick in the 53rd minute, Gil headed over the goal.

The referee gave another minute of added time. Timão fought to get a draw, but failed.

Next game
Timão returns to the field next Monday (18), when they face Grêmio, at Neo Química Arena, at 9pm, in a rescheduled match valid for the 15th round of the Brasileirão 2023.
