Open to Work? Santos fans “invade” the club’s LinkedIn profile asking for signings

An unusual scene involving Santos fans caught attention this Friday morning (15). On the club’s official LinkedIn profile, a post was made announcing a vacancy for an Access Controller. In the comments of the same post, there was no shortage of requests for signings from fans.

Among the most popular requests, Santos fans, dissatisfied with Andrés Rueda’s management, want the club’s manager to be replaced immediately, and on top of that they are demanding more players and a new coach.

Diego Aguirre, hired after Paulo Turra’s departure, has been at the Santos club for less than a month, and could already be fired, due to the defeat suffered by Cruzeiro on Friday night (14). Playing at home, Alvinegro Praiano was easily beaten by Cruzeiro by the score of 3 x 0, in Vila Belmiro.

Santos fulfills the relegation letter to the letter

Lack of important signings, sale of important players, constant changes of coach. These are just some of the actions taken by all the big teams as they approach relegation in the Brazilian Championship.

In the case of Santos, this guideline has been followed to the letter, which could compromise Alvinegro Praiano’s presence in the elite of Brazilian football for the first time in its history. Interestingly, Peixe experiences one of its worst phases a year after the death of its greatest exponent, King Pelé.

In 23 games in this Brasileirão, Santos won just five wins, being the 3rd least winner in the competition, six draws and 12 defeats, with 21 goals scored and 39 conceded. At the moment the team is in 17th place, four points behind the first team outside the Z4, which is Goiás.

If Esmeraldino beats Palmeiras this Friday (15), Peixe’s distance from the team from Goiás could increase to seven points, meaning Alvinegro Praiano would need at least three games to try to escape Z4.

With 15 games left until the end of the Brazilian Championship, Santos’ situation is starting to become increasingly complicated. It’s up to the fans to do what they know, criticize, demand, and above all, root for the team to get out of this uncomfortable place in the table.

How many coaches have played for Santos in 2023?

Throughout the season, four professionals took over the technical command of the Peixe team. Odair Hellmann has been with the squad since the Campeonato Paulista, through the Copa do Brasil and also the Copa Sudamericana.

Dismissed after the 2-0 defeat to Corinthians at Vila Belmiro, Peixe was subsequently coached by interim Claudiomiro Santiago, who was soon replaced by Paulo Turra, who arrived from Athletico Paranaense.

Seven games were enough for the Santos board to fire the young coach, who decided to bet on an international name for the remainder of the season, and found in Diego Aguirre, a Uruguayan who was at Olimpia in Paraguay, the name to continue in command of the team until the end of the season.

However, the sequence of four defeats and one victory in five games is already shaking the structure of the Alvinegro Praiano board, which this Friday (15), evaluates the possibility of Aguirre leaving the team, which would make the club go after its 5th coach in 2023.
