Last Thursday (14), Jorge Jesus, coach of Al Hilal, went viral on social media with an ‘unusual’ video. The Portuguese coach put aside his “tough” attitude to celebrate the birthday of Abdullah Al-Hamdan, striker for the Saudi team. At the moment of celebration, Jesus surprised everyone by serving a piece of cake into the player’s mouth.

In the images, Jorge Jesus appears cutting the cake in the Saudi team’s locker room while the birthday boy Al-Hamdan is sitting at the table. Afterwards, the former Flamengo coach puts the piece of candy in the attacker’s mouth and makes the rest of the squad laugh.

The moment of relaxation touched Flamengo fans, who see Jorge Jesus as an idol and one of the greatest coaches in the club’s history. In the comments of the video, red and black people praised the Portuguese’s charisma and recalled the coach’s successful stint at Mais Querido.

How many titles did Jorge Jesus win at Flamengo?

Jorge Jesus took over Flamengo in June 2019 and left the club in July of the following year. During this period, the Portuguese coach assembled a winning squad, enchanted the fans with the style of play he presented and carved his name in the history of Rubro-Negro.

Jesus’ time at Flamengo was so remarkable and expressive that the coach had more titles than defeats at the helm of the Rio team. In total, he managed Mais Querido in 57 games, obtaining 43 wins, 10 draws and four setbacks. Apart from the 81.3% success rate, Mister, as he is affectionately known by the Red and Blacks, won the following trophies: Copa Libertadores (2019), Campeonato Brasileiro (2019), Supercopa do Brasil (2020), Recopa Sul-Americana (2020), Campeonato Carioca (2020) and Guanabara Cup (2020).

Jorge Jesus’ start at Al Hilal is encouraging

On July 1, 2023, Jorge Jesus was announced as Al Hilal’s new coach. The Portuguese, who had already managed the Saudi club in 2018/19, signed a contract valid until the end of the 2023/2024 season.

At the head of Al Hilal’s million-dollar and ambitious project, Jesus commands a star-studded team, with renowned and world-renowned players. Names like Neymar, Koulibaly, Rúben Neves, Milinković-Savić and Aleksandar Mitrović are part of the team that, in 12 games played so far this season, has recorded eight wins, two draws and two defeats.

This Friday (15), Jorge Jesus’ Al Hilal defeated Al Riyadh 6-1, in a game valid for the sixth round of the Saudi Championship. The match marked the debut of Neymar, who came on during the second half. The Brazilian striker did not find the net, but directly contributed to four of the team’s goals.
