Statements by Álvaro Pacheco, Estoril coach, after the 5-3 defeat at Gil Vicente, in the fifth round of the championship
Bad team defensively: “The squad actually worked well in these weeks of interruption (of the championship), but we were very bad defensively in the first half. Much below our capabilities. We lacked aggression and audacity, we have to be more sharp in winning duels, because in the offensive part we were even good.”
Second time: “In the second half, we started very well, we managed to revive the game, but Gil Vicente, with two shots, scored two goals. Still, we continued to create opportunities and we could have even scored more goals. We believed we could reach a draw.”
Defensive line concerns: “We were very soft in the first half and I think this is more related to a mental part. It was a less positive day, especially for our defensive line. It is this sector that worries me the most, because offensively we have shown dynamics. We have to work on this discomfort and some uneasiness to be more capable.”
