Grêmio will have two changes to face Corinthians, this Monday (18), at 9 pm, at NeoQuímica Arena, in São Paulo, in a postponed match from the 15th round of the Brazilian Championship. In midfield, Nathan will replace the injured Carballo. By technical choice, Fábio takes over the starting position at right-back in place of João Pedro.
Carballo suffered a grade one muscle injury to the collateral ligament in his right knee. In his place, Renato put Everton Galdino against Bragantino. The attacking midfielder was tipped to start against Corinthians, but the option was for Nathan.
Regarding the right-back, João Pedro scored an own goal in the 2-0 defeat in Bragança. He has alternated starting positions with Fábio throughout the season, mainly due to injuries to both.
Grêmio lineup
Even with these two changes of players, coach Renato Portaluppi must maintain the tactical scheme in the 4-4-2 diamond. Nathan will have the same positioning as Carballo, on the right side of midfield. The Grêmio lineup has Gabriel Grando; Fábio, Rodrigo Ely, Kannemann and Reinaldo; Villasanti, Nathan, Pepê and Cristaldo; João Pedro Galvão and Luis Suárez.

Renato demanded competitiveness from the players and warned against changes
After the defeat to Bragantino, Renato demanded greater competitiveness from his players. And he warned that he will not be afraid to serve anyone who does not give themselves completely on the field.
— Today there were going to be two changes with 15 minutes of play. Then I change after 15 minutes, it feels like I’m playing the player against the fans. I held myself back, counted to ten. But the message was given. Next time, in 10, 15, 20 minutes it will come out. Didn’t compete, will leave. I waited until the locker room. I was nice. I want to win, I want to fight for the title, if I don’t win, I want the Libertadores straight. 99% think this way, so that 1% cannot think differently. Either come in and compete, value the club you’re at, the shirt you wear, or the line will move on. We have about 15 rounds. I made it very clear: I don’t care about age, salary, name. I want to know who will help me. And from Monday you will see. Run, keep going. He stopped competing, he’s going to leave,” he said.
Grêmio’s situation in the Brazilian Championship
Even with the defeat in the last round against Bragantino, Grêmio remains in 3rd place in the Brazilian Championship, with 39 points. In case of victory, the distance to Palmeiras, which is second in the standings, with 44, will be reduced to two.
The challenge for Tricolor Gaúcho against Corinthians is to improve their record away from home in the Brasileirão. In ten games, there were three wins, one draw and six defeats. The sequence as a visitor is three consecutive failures, against Vasco, Santos and Bragantino.
