Atlético-MG announced that it made the first sale in the club’s women’s football history. The Rooster traded Colombian defender Jorelyn Carabali, 26, with Brighton & Hove Albion, from England. The amounts were not disclosed.
Jorelyn arrived at Atlético at the start of the 2023 season, being signed from América de Cali, in his native country. The defender made only 11 games with the Atlético shirt, but scored three goals, a high number for a defender.
Jore, as she is affectionately called, came to prominence even at the New Zealand/Australia World Cup, which ended a month ago. With the Colombian national team, she was a starter in the five games that the country played in the competition, falling in the quarterfinals, but being recognized for the great campaign.

Last season, Brighton were 11th out of 12 teams in the top flight in England. Luckily only one club is relegated so he saved himself. The defender will have the mission to keep the team once again in the elite of English football.
Jorelyn had a big loss after the Cup
After helping the Colombian national team in the World Cup, Jorelyn ended up having a big setback in his life. Her brother, Paulo Andrés Carabalí Martínez, aged just 23, died in Colombia after a shooting. On social media, she received support from fans, the club and lamented the case:
– God give me strength. Again in this situation. Thank you all for the messages of support in this difficult time – wrote Jore in a post. She cited « one more time » as she had already lost another brother, in 2017.
The Rooster mourns the death of the brother of the Colombian defender Jorelyn Carabalí, athlete of the Vingadoras.
The club wishes the player and her family members strength at this very difficult time.

Atletico Feminino in 2023
Atlético did not have a good season in the Brazilian Championship in 2023. The team was only placed 12th among 16 teams and escaped relegation in the struggle. First team outside the Z4, O Galo finished just three points ahead of the first club inside the zone.
