Atlético-MG opened its new home, Arena MRV, last Sunday (27). Despite the capacity for around 45,000 people, Galo managed to release only 30,000. For the next home game, the idea is to increase the number of fans present.

Against Santos, in the debut, the Arena MRV received exactly 29,782 fans. For the game against Botafogo, which will be Atlético’s next home game, the idea is to increase capacity by five thousand, that is, reaching 35 thousand in attendance. The information was revealed by the CEO of Galo, Bruno Muzzi, at the SAF 2023 Forum event, which takes place this Thursday (31), in Belo Horizonte.

– The results of external mobility, transit, were very good. Those who went to the Arena could arrive and leave, access inside the stadium was very good. There’s a lot to be done. I think you can go to 35 thousand in the next game – said Muzzi.

The match between Atlético and Botafogo only takes place on the 16th of September. That is, Galo still has more than two weeks to get the release of more public in its stadium and also to fix the problems that arose in the premiere.

Atlético owner comments on Arena debut

At the same event that Bruno Muzzi spoke about the increase in capacity at the MRV Arena, one of the majority partners of Atlético’s SAF, Rafael Menin, also commented on the debut of the new athletic home.

– It was an incredible day, which will remain in the memory of all Atlético fans. We had the benefit of being the last arena made in Brazil, so we could learn from the positives and negatives, not only in Brazil. We are convinced that Arena MRV is the best sports equipment in Brazil and South America. It is the most modern, the most inclusive, the most sustainable and the most comfortable. The club’s only 100% arena – he said in an interview with Rádio Itatiaia.

Rafael Menin also revealed that only 18,000 tickets were put up for sale for the first match, as the other almost 12,000 were split between people with a permanent seat, box, press, sponsors, shareholders and ticket buyers for the first game of the Arena, which would be against an international team. He also spoke about increasing capacity: “It was a much smaller load (of tickets for sale). From now on, the expectation is that we will be able to increase five thousand seats per game”.

The entrepreneur and president of MRV Engenharia also stated that Atlético achieved a net profit of almost R$ 200,000 just with food and parking: “This shows the potential for revenue”.

Arena MRV will have signs for each goal

A partner of Atlético, Arena and the company that names one of the stadium’s levels, ArcelorMittal created a panel in a part of the stadium that will have plaques representing each goal scored by the Galo at home.

The plaques of Paulinho’s two goals, which marked Atlético’s victory against Santos last Sunday, are already installed at the site.

Before the game, Arena MRV hosts concerts

Before the ball starts rolling again for Atlético at the MRV Arena, the stadium will host two events with concerts by artists. The first takes place on Wednesday (6), with the duo Jorge e Mateus and Clayton e Romário, in addition to the axé singer Ivete Sangalo. On Saturday (9), Casa do Galo will host its first international show, by the pop band Maroon 5. The stage is already being set up:
