Botafogo may have a problem in the final stretch of the Brazilian Championship. With a series of shows scheduled for Nilton Santos between October and November, the club may have to send up to three matches away from home towards the end of the Brasileirão. And one of these games would be against Palmeiras, current runner-up in the competition.
Rounds 30, 31 and 33 of the Brasileirão have not yet been separated by the CBF. However, they should take place between the end of October and the beginning of November, when Botafogo will provide Nilton Santos for a series of shows by international artists. In this sequence, Bruno Lage’s team will face, respectively, Cuiabá, Palmeiras and Grêmio.
On October 28th, singer and guitarist Roger Waters, ex-Pink Floyd, will perform at Nilton Santos. On November 4th, it is the turn of the American band Red Hot Cilli Peppers to play at the stadium. A few days later, on November 9th and 10th, the Mexican group Rebelde performs at Botafogo. The stadium will also host singer Taylor Swift’s concert on November 18th, but this show should not disrupt the club’s calendar.
However, as Nilton Santos has synthetic grass, Botafogo believes and will try to keep the matches at Nilton Santos. Furthermore, according to “GE”, the club will count on a good relationship with the show producers to try to adapt the logistics for setting up the stages.
At the beginning of July, for example, Botafogo faced Vasco, at Nilton Santos, on the 2nd, while the stage for singer Ludmilla’s show was already set up in front of the North sector. Therefore, only this part of the stadium was closed to the public on the day of the game. The singer’s performance took place on the 8th and Botafogo returned to play at the stadium on July 15th.

Nilton Santos has been a great ally of Botafogo in this Brazilian Championship. On the “mat”, Glorioso won 12 of the 13 games already played at the stadium, and lost only one at home – in the classic with Flamengo. Thus, Botafogo is the best home team in the competition, with a 91.6% success rate at home.
