After drawing 1-1 in Minas Gerais, a week ago, Bragantino were three times ahead in the second leg, the last of which was annulled in the 90+10th minute, following the goal scored by Gonzalo Mastriani, from big penalty.
Bragantino, which is part of the group of four teams tied for second place in the Brazilian championship, 13 points behind leader Botafogo, coached by the Portuguese Bruno Lage, took the lead in the tie after just five minutes, when Sorriso opened the scoring.
The striker scored twice, in the 45+3 minute, shortly after the opponent, who occupies 10th place in the Brasileirão, had tied, at 45+1, by Mastriani, returning to equal even before the break, at 45+ 5, by Eder Ferreira.
In the second half, the goal scored by Leo Ortiz seemed to have proved decisive for Bragantino’s qualification, who played at the Corinthians stadium, but Mastriani scored again and took the match to a penalty shoot-out, in which América Mineiro it was more effective.
