The patience of Cruzeiro fans with the team’s bad moment seems to be coming to an end. The club is close to completing two months without knowing what it means to win in the Brazilian Championship. Last Saturday night (2), protest banners against the club’s current management were placed on one of the busiest avenues in Belo Horizonte, capital of Minas Gerais.

Positioned on an overpass on Avenida Antônio Carlos, the banners brought slogans against Ronaldo, the majority shareholder of SAF do Cruzeiro. “Gordão, this is not Valladolid. We are the greatest in Minas”, said one of the banners.

Striker Gilberto was also one of the targets of the protest. Hired at the beginning of the year as the team’s hope for goals this season, the number 99 is one of the players in the current Cruzeiro squad most criticized by the fans. What else is being charged.

The charges under Gilberto only increased after the striker’s mistake in the game against Corinthians, on the last day of August 21, which resulted in the equalizing goal for the team from São Paulo in the last minute of the game. From then on, the player’s situation began to become unsustainable. One of the banners called the striker “the enemy of the goal”.

Since arriving in BH, Gilberto has played 30 games for Cruzeiro, with just six goals scored, three of them in the 18 matches he has played for the Brazilian Championship, an average of one goal every five games. In the Copa do Brasil, the striker entered the field four times, but did not score in any of them.

The last time Gilberto rocked the opposing nets was in the first half of May, in the sixth round of the Brasileirão, in the regional classic against América Mineiro. On that May 14th, the striker scored twice in the 4-0 victory. Since then, he has gone 14 games without scoring, two for the Copa do Brasil and another 12 for the Brasileirão.
