‘I was born Flamengo’: Vinicius Junior shares old video and declares himself to former club


Vinicius Junior decided to play with the nostalgic imagination of Flamengo supporters on Tuesday night (5). Through his social networks, the Real Madrid striker shared an old video in which he appears in the middle of the Red-Black crowd, at Maracanã. In the comments, netizens and Mais Querido supporters exalted Gávea’s creation and asked the star to one day return to the club that designed him for football.

A fanatical Flamengo fan, Vinicius Junior grew up cheering for the Red-Black team in the Maracanã stands. In the aforementioned video, it is possible to see the player singing songs in support of Fla along with members of the organized crowd “Nação 12”. The images are from October 2015. It is worth noting that Vini debuted for the club’s professionals two years later, in 2017.

How many goals did Vinicius Junior score for Flamengo?

Revealed by Flamengo, Vinicius Junior joined the Gávea club at the age of 10. After going through all stages of the Rubro-Negro youth categories, the striker made his debut for the professionals on May 13, 2017, in a game against Atlético-MG, for the Brazilian Championship.

Vini defended Mais Querido until June 2018, when he had to report to Real Madrid, who signed him for 45 million euros (R$ 164 million at the time). Despite being short, the striker’s passage through Flamengo’s professionals was positive. In all, he scored 14 goals and provided five assists in 69 appearances.

After a timid start in Spanish football, the boy from Gávea broke free and today he is one of the main technical references of the team commanded by Carlo Ancelotti.

Since 2018 at Real Madrid, Vini has entered the field 228 times with the merengue shirt. So far, the Brazilian has scored 61 goals, provided 50 assists and helped the club win the following titles: Champions League, Club World Cup (2x), UEFA Super Cup, La Liga (2x), King’s Cup and UEFA Super Cup Spain (2x).

How long will Vinicius Junior be out due to injury?

On the last August 25th, Vinicius Junior suffered an injury to his right biceps femoris muscle, in the match against Celta de Vigo, valid for La Liga. According to the newspaper Brandthe Brazilian player, along with the medical department and the coaching staff of Real Madrid, are working to make his return to the pitch happen on the weekend of the 23rd and 24th of September.

If this prediction comes true, Vini would return to play much sooner than initially expected. The initial expectation of recovery was at least two months away from the lawns. However, the striker would be reacting well to the process at the club’s premises and, therefore, the deadline was reduced by half.
