Minhotos retain 20 percent of the Spaniard’s economic rights that Conceição asked to fill in Otávio’s departure. Contract can be signed this Wednesday and, in principle, will be for five seasons
After Nico González, Alan Varela, Fran Navarro and Jorge Sánchez, Iván Jaime follows. FC Porto reached an agreement with Famalicão and the left winger, aged 22, will even reinforce Sérgio Conceição’s squad, as the online edition of O JOGO advanced firsthand. It is even possible that the Spaniard will carry out the medical examinations this Wednesday and be made official.
In any case, the contract is closed and FC Porto will pay 10 million euros to Famalicão, which must retain 20 percent of the economic rights. Málaga, Iván’s former club, remember, will be entitled to receive 25 percent of the amount that the dragons will pay to the Minho. That is, 2.5 M€. Iván’s bond with FC Porto should be valid for the next five seasons and the termination clause will certainly be quite high, possibly reaching €80m.
After Otávio left for Al Nassr, the need to hire a player for the wings became urgent and the blue and white SAD advanced in force with formal contacts to satisfy Conceição’s request. Famalicão set the bar at 10 million euros and after a few days of talks, the blue and white players accepted the demands of the people of Minho. On the part of the player, he had long since informed the management that he intended to make the leap, having even pressed in that direction by claiming that he did not have the mental conditions to compete. And the truth is that it doesn’t add up any minutes this season.
In the previous one, however, he scored 11 goals and five assists in 33 games, a performance that earned him the distinction of best young player in the last championship, in a vote carried out by the coaches and captains of all 18 clubs. Iván, it should be noted, can play as a « 10 » and on both wings of the attack, precisely the roles that Otávio played in Sérgio Conceição’s chess. At FC Porto he will be able to fulfill his dream of playing in the Champions League.
Spanish navy gains weight
You have to go back to the times of Julen Lopetegui as a coach to find a Spanish representation as significant as that of the current squad. Iván Jaime is fifth in the fleet, after Marcano, Toni Martínez, Fran Navarro and Nico González. Interestingly, the striker was also hired in Famalicão, in exchange for 3.4 million euros. According to available records, Iván is the third player recruited by FC Porto from the Minho club. The first was Celestino Silva, in the 1985/86 season, with Pinto da Costa already president.
