Player claims that he suffered « serious offenses on a social network » and that he does not give up the fight against racism
Otávio, a Famalicão centre-half, took to social media this Tuesday to denounce and expose racist insults he received after the game with Sporting, in Alvalade, on Sunday, which the leonine emblem ended up winning by 1-0.
The defender of the Famalicense club regretted what happened, calling for equality (« it seems that some people still haven’t learned that we are all the same ») and highlighting that he will not give up the fight against racism.

« On the 27/08/2023, shortly after the game between Sporting and Famalicão, I suffered serious offenses on a social network. Supporters of the team we had just faced sent me racist and xenophobic messages.
I am very proud of the color of my skin and the country I come from. My character and my professionalism were shaped in the place where I was born and raised. In the middle of the 21st century, with all these years of struggle for equality, we still see scenarios of racism.
Recently there was the episode involving Vinícius Jr., which moved the world, and yet it seems that some people still haven’t learned that WE ARE ALL EQUAL.
This is not just my fight, but everyone’s, and I won’t give up. »
