Extremo has refused all offers for wanting to play in the dragons. It remains to convince Famalicão with numbers
It was even well before the end of the last championship that the names of FC Porto and Iván Jaime appeared married in the same news for the first time. The Porto players were seduced by the Spaniard’s qualities and he did not disguise his attraction for the possibility of participating in the Champions League in 2023/24. Time went on and the relationship, despite the insistence of several sources, kept its distance… until Otávio was sold to Al Nassr. With a vacancy on the wings to be filled and Gabriel Veron (injured) away for some time, Sérgio Conceição pointed to the reinforcement of the position as a wish for the final stretch of the market and, according to information gathered by O JOGO, the profile of the Famalicão winger is one of those that the coach signaled as a potential target at the end of last season.
The ball now passes to the heads of FC Porto’s SAD, who are responsible for trying to convince « Fama » to sell Iván Jaime, who has been putting a lot of pressure to leave. The Spaniard’s refusals to play for Famalicenses, moreover, are public and assumed by the coach, João Pedro Sousa, who justifies them with emotional issues. Iván wants to represent the blue and whites and doesn’t hide it from those closest to him, because he is convinced that he would fit like a glove in Conceição’s game idea. Therefore, he refused all suggestions that were presented to him during this period, while he despaired of concrete action from the dragons. From Wolverhampton to Valencia, not forgetting the North Americans of Charlotte FC, they all met the ambition of the 22-year-old winger, for whom Sporting also made an approach, although it has not yet formally advanced with any proposal.
The biggest obstacle that FC Porto faces in this process is the evaluation made by Famalicão to Iván Jaime. Taking advantage of the award for Best Young Player in the League awarded to the Spaniard in 2022/23, Miguel Ribeiro has been aiming for values around 10 million euros, not least because 25% of the athlete’s pass still remains in Malaga’s possession. Charlotte FC, for example, reached 7 M€ in a first phase and, later, even showed willingness to raise the offer a little, but always staying below double digits.
The inclusion of FC Porto players in the operation would even be a mechanism that could help circumvent the demands of the president of SAD do Famalicão. However, the inclusion of Gonçalo Borges in the operation, as was suggested yesterday, is not, at this point, in anyone’s plans, either at Dragão or at Olival.
