Rui Pinto sentenced to four years in prison with suspended sentence

Defendant will not have to serve the sentence effectively.

In a session that took place at Lisbon’s Central Criminal Court, Rui Pinto was sentenced this Monday to four years in prison in the Football Leaks case, three years after the start of the trial. The decision was read by Margarida Alves, president of the Collective of Judges that judged the case. Rui Pinto will not have to comply with it effectively.

Rui Pinto, aged 34, was accused of 90 crimes: 68 of improper access, 14 of violation of correspondence, six of illegitimate access, targeting entities such as Sporting, Doyen, the law firm PLMJ, the Portuguese Football Federation ( FPF) and the Attorney General’s Office (PGR), and also for computer sabotage of Sporting’s SAD and for extortion, in the attempted form, of the company Doyen.

Rui Pinto already knows that he will continue in court, following an accusation relating to 377 crimes related to access to emails from Benfica and other clubs, the League, companies, lawyers, judges, prosecutors, the Tax Authority and the National Security Network. Internal security.

Aníbal Pinto, for co-authorship of the crime of extortion in the attempted form, was also convicted, with a sentence of two years in prison, suspended for an equal period of time.
