The Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus went viral on social networks last Monday (28) for a heavy scolding over the Brazilian player Michael. The kick came after the attacker received it on the right side of the attack and kicked the ball back during the half between Al Hilal and Al Ettifaq. Nostalgic, Flamengo fans invaded the publication saying they missed the coach who made history at the club in 2019.

The red-blacks justify their nostalgia for the way Jesus gets irritated with backward passes, something common today in the team coached by Jorge Sampaoli. He also left criticism of the current squad of the club, pointed out as “lazy”. See some of the nostalgic reactions from the Flamengo fans.

JJ being himself, good times when he had command of the most beloved, today is a real mess, all we can do is hope to be among the four at the top, guaranteeing a spot for Libertadores 2024, and evicting this bunch of lazy people out…

This old man is absurdly missed here, the truth is that he is the best coach in the history of Flamengo.

Missing Jesus, fans will have Sampaoli as Flamengo coach until the end of the season
The elimination in the round of 16 of the Copa Libertadores for Olimpia put even more pressure on Argentine coach Sampaoli. This added to episodes of aggression in the squad, first between physical trainer Pablo Fernández and striker Pedro and, weeks later, Gerson and Varela. At that moment, with the team in the final of the Copa do Brasil, the coach will remain in charge, according to president Rodolfo Landim.
« Is obvious. We are in the middle of a season and with two decisions. Everyone makes an evaluation at the end of the year”, said Landim, after the home draw for the Copa do Brasil finals.
The Copa do Brasil is Fla’s chance to end the season with a cup. In addition to Libertadores with Sampaoli, Rubro-Negro lost the Brazilian Super Cup, the Club World Cup and the Carioca Championship. In the Brasileirão, the club occupies the 4th place with 36 points, 15 behind the leader and rival Botafogo.
In fact, the cariocas will play the “Clássico da Rivalidade” this Sunday (2), at 21:00 (Brasília time), at the Nilton Santos stadium. If it wins, it reduces the advantage to 12 points and, if Glorioso has a drop in performance in the second round, it can dream of fighting for the national title.
See Flamengo’s upcoming appointments this season:
- Botafogo x Flamengo – Brazilian Championship – Nilton Santos – Saturday (2/9), at 21h (Brasília time);
- Flamengo x Athletico-PR – Brazilian Championship – Maracanã – Wednesday (9/13), at 21:30 (Brasília time);
- Flamengo x São Paulo – Copa do Brasil – Maracanã – Sunday (17/9), time to be defined.
In Saudi Arabia, Jorge Jesus trains Al Hilal’s national team
In this transfer window, with a boom in signings in Saudi football, Al Hilal was the one who best reinforced. The team already had Michael, who also saw the arrival of Brazilians Neymar and Malcom, in addition to other names known in Europe, such as Ruben Neves, Sergej Milinković-Savić, Kalidou Koulibaly, Aleksandar Mitrovic and Bono.
Jorge Jesus has this squad available to fight for the title of the Saudi Championship and the Asian Champions League. Neymar still cannot play due to a thigh problem and should only debut in the seventh round of the national championship, when Al Hilal faces Damac. The match has not yet been scheduled, but it could take place on September 21.
