That Vanderlei Luxemburgo is down with the Corinthians fans is nothing new for anyone. But to the surprise of many, part of Fiel seems to have ‘forgiven’ Vítor Pereira’, as the name of the Portuguese coach became a subject and reason for jokes by the alvinegros this Tuesday (5).
A club post on social networks made the Corinthians ‘air’ a possible return of Vítor Pereira to Parque São Jorge. In the publication in question, Timão praises the presence of alvinegro fans around the world and highlights the Portuguese city of Lisbon. In the comments, VP was remembered and even requested by some internet users who, dissatisfied with the current situation and performance of the team led by Luxemburgo, want a change in technical command.

Remember the troubled departure of Vítor Pereira from Corinthians
Vítor Pereira arrived at Corinthians in February 2022 in the midst of the Paulista Championship dispute. The Portuguese coach landed at Parque São Jorge with the morale and approval of a large part of the alvinegra fans, largely due to his successful work ahead of important clubs, such as Porto and Olympiacos.
Despite an irregular start ahead of Timão, VP managed to oil the team and led the club to important achievements in 2022. Runners-up in the Copa do Brasil, Corinthians ended the season in fourth place in the Brazilian Championship and with a direct vacancy assured for the Liberators of 2023.
On November 13, 2022, after several speculations about the future of Vítor Pereira at Corinthians, club president Duílio Monteiro Alves announced that, due to a family illness in Portugal, the Portuguese coach would not renew his contract with Timão.
Exactly one month later, Flamengo announced that it had an agreement with Vítor Pereira. At the time, the Portuguese was still under contract with Corinthians, so he was made official as coach of Rubro-Negro only on January 3, 2023. VP’s decision revolted the alvinegra fans who, since then, have been rooting for failures in the commander’s career.
Luxembourg under pressure at Corinthians
As mentioned, the work of Vanderlei Luxemburgo has not pleased the Corinthians fans at all. Eliminated by São Paulo in the semifinals of the Copa do Brasil, Timão has an irregular campaign in the Brazilian Championship and is getting closer and closer to the relegation zone as the rounds go by. With 26 points conquered, Alvinegro occupies only 13th place in the competition.
The Copa Sudamericana is the only breath of life for Corinthians de Luxembourg. In Cássio’s historic game, Timão eliminated Estudiantes in Argentina and secured a place in the semifinals of the continental tournament. The opponent of the time will be Fortaleza.

Since joining Corinthians, Vanderlei has led the team in 34 matches, with 13 wins, 10 draws and 11 defeats, totaling 48%.
