According to recent media speculation, French club Lille are seriously considering asking Manchester City for a season-long extension to Marcos Lopes’ loan deal. Lopes is currently on a season-long loan from Manchester City. The Portuguese attacking midfielder has been in impressive form lately, most notably scoring the winner over current league-leaders Lyon last weekend. According to reports coming out of England, Barnsley striker Ricardo Vaz Te has rejected the club’s approach of a contract extension. Vaz Te’s contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and due to his recent form, the club is eager to renew it. Perhaps a catalyst for this decision was the striker’s hat-trick against Leeds United on New Years eve. In fact, Vaz te has been performing admirably since joining Barnsley in the summer. The striker has hit the back of the net ten times in nineteen appearances, which is an impressive return.
Portuguese Under-21 international Andre Santos has been told that he will officially be a Lion next season. The midfielder has enjoyed quite a bit of success at Uniao de Leiria, where he was loaned this season. So much in fact, that he hass become a regular for the Portuguese Under-21 National Team. Along with all of this, he has been granted a contract extension that will se him at the club until 2014.
